Walkthrough Videos
In the section below, you will find instructional videos on how install and use ArboGen’s core features.
This video will take you through the download and install process, including adding your activation code.
My antivirus has quarantined or blocked ArboGen. What should I do?
ArboGen is safe. It is digitally signed by Hallico Ltd, and every release is checked against the major antivirus engines before it is published. Occasionally an antivirus product, most often Norton or McAfee, will flag the ArboGen application on first launch. This is known as a false positive. It happens because ArboGen is specialist software with a small user base, and reputation-based antivirus systems treat any unfamiliar program with suspicion until enough people have run it. It does not mean anything is wrong with the file or your computer.
If this happens, restore the file and tell your antivirus to trust it in future. Restoring alone is not enough; without the exclusion it will be quarantined again the next time you open ArboGen.
This is common, and a little frustrating, for new specialist software. We report every false positive to the antivirus vendor, and it clears as the vendor updates its definitions and as more users install ArboGen.
Norton 360
- Open Norton and go to Security, then History (or Quarantine).
- Select ArboGen.exe in the list.
- Choose Restore and Exclude (not just Restore). If you only see Restore, restore the file, then go to Settings, Antivirus, Scans and Risks, Exclusions, and add
C:\Users\<your username>\AppData\Local\Programs\ArboGento the Scan Exclusions and Auto-Protect Exclusions lists. - Launch ArboGen normally.
McAfee
- Open McAfee and go to Quarantined Items.
- Select ArboGen.exe and choose Restore.
- Go to Real-Time Scanning settings and under Excluded Files add ArboGen.exe or the ArboGen folder above.
Windows Defender (Windows Security)
- Open Windows Security, then Virus & threat protection, then Protection history.
- Find the ArboGen entry and choose Allow on device.
- If it recurs, go to Virus & threat protection settings, Manage settings, Exclusions, and add the ArboGen folder.
Other antivirus products
The steps are similar: restore the file from quarantine, then add ArboGen.exe or the ArboGen install folder to the exclusions or allow list.

Frequently Asked Questions
How does the free trial work?
Download ArboGen and use it free for 3 months (Early Adopter) or 1 month (Standard) — no payment details required upfront. You’ll have access to the full product so you can see exactly how it works for your practice before committing.
How does it work with my existing report templates?
You add placeholders to your existing Word documents in the places where you want ArboGen to insert generated content. Once set up, ArboGen populates those placeholders automatically every time you export. Your templates stay yours, ArboGen just fills them in.
How long does setup take?
Around 30 minutes. We have a video guide that walks you through everything step by step.
Does it work with BS 5837:2012?
Yes. ArboGen supports both BS 5837:2012 and BS 5837:2026, so you can work to whichever standard your project requires and transition to the new standard at your own pace.
Can multiple users share a licence?
Licences are per device, so each machine running ArboGen needs its own licence. If you have a team, get in touch and we can discuss the best setup for your practice.
What happens to my data?
Your survey and project data stays entirely on your machine. We never see it.
Can I cancel my subscription?
Yes, you can cancel at any time. Your licence will remain active until the end of your last paid subscription period.
Can I have more than 1 subscription on one account (for multiple users)?
Yes, you can! You just need to contact us directly to arrange this.
